Training with a friend or spouse can be an excellent way to gain close coaching, but is more budget friendly. It is best suited to couples who are similar in fitness/ ability (strength is not important so men and women can train together). What is more important is that one person does not have significantly more injuries for movement restrictions than the other. This can be discussed after the first ‘Working Assessment”, where Ally takes you through all movement patterns in order to design the first training programme, to help you achieve your joint goals. If she feels that you would both benefit from individual training, for a while before training together, she will advise accordingly.
Everybody, can benefit from strength training; young and old, male and female, injured or able-bodied, from athletes to ‘never exercised before’’. Increasing and maintaining strength is especially important as we get older.
Over time you will both gain/ increase in the following areas:
-
Strength
-
Cardiovascular fitness
-
Stability
-
Mobility
-
Ability to perform the six human movement patterns of squat, lunge, hinge, push, pull and carry effectively, which are used in life and in sports.
Strength training also reduces likelihood of injury, thus ‘bulletproofing’ your bodies.
If you have existing injuries, strength training will reduce the pain and discomfort associated with these. As a PPSC (Pain Free Performance Specialist), Ally does not believe that gym sessions should be painful, and will over time, get you out of existing pain.
Sometimes, she will refer you to another trusted professional, if she feels that you need help to address structural imbalances.
Training takes place in the beautiful Glass House, an airy and light purpose built garden gym in the middle of nature.
As physical training is just one element in holistic health, many clients address the rest of their lifestyle and diet, as well as mental, emotional and even spiritual health. Stress and lack of sleep, can for example increase recovery time and reduce the body’s ability to increase muscle size or strength, or lose fat.
As a Certified Naturopath, Ally can also help you address these elements. Naturopathic coaching and consultations are individual. If this is of interest to you, please click here.
